Primary Responsibilities
- Lead the Local Area Unemployment Statistics (LAUS) program, ensuring the production of accurate, timely, and top-quality labor data that fulfills program deliverables consistent with U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics guidelines and cooperative agreements.
- Prepare and validate comprehensive statistical model inputs.
- Collaborate with representatives from other states to maintain high data standards across jurisdictions.
- Develop and review monthly and annual labor force estimates.
- Coordinate with BLS Regional and National offices to maintain data quality, address improvements, and resolve issues.
- Utilize BLS data in conjunction with the Office of Workforce Development to designate Areas of Substantial Unemployment annually.
- Serve as a backup resource for other statistical initiatives, such as Current Employment Statistics.
- Leverage knowledge of regional economic trends to ensure the accuracy and publication of labor data.
- Respond promptly to data requests as required.
- Proficiently operate diverse software tools including Excel, Word, and proprietary platforms to uphold program performance.
- Perform additional duties as assigned, maintaining consistent and reliable attendance.
Required Knowledge and Skills
- Comprehensive understanding of statistical methodologies, data collection and dissemination, sample surveys, and quantitative analysis techniques.
- Capability to employ dashboards and reporting tools to monitor and guide program performance.
- Familiarity with economic, educational, and labor market information datasets, their sources, and applications.
- Innovative mindset with strategic planning and adaptability to evolving program requirements.
- Relevant educational background or professional experience in fields such as research, data analysis, economics, business, public administration, or related disciplines, including military service, is advantageous.
