Job Overview

The Research Specialist I will be involved in a variety of preclinical laboratory activities, supporting the development of therapeutic approaches through rigorous experimental work. This position reports to the Team Leader or Executive Staff and plays a key role in maintaining laboratory operations and executing critical assays.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct molecular biology experiments such as molecular cloning, PCR, quantitative RT-PCR, Western blotting, ELISA, and genome editing.
• Perform histological procedures including tissue sectioning, cryosectioning, and immunohistochemistry analysis.
• Manage cell culture operations effectively.
• Ensure that supplies and materials are adequately stocked and maintained at all times.
• Adhere strictly to laboratory safety protocols and policies, particularly when handling hazardous chemicals.
• Prepare detailed reports documenting experimental results and laboratory activities.
• Carry out general clerical duties and assist in keeping laboratory and office spaces clean and organized.

Work Environment and Schedule

This role entails working in a laboratory environment where exposure to potent, volatile, carcinogenic, and toxic chemicals occurs. The use of appropriate personal protective equipment is mandatory. The position is full-time, with general working hours from Monday through Friday, 9am to 5pm, with occasional evening and weekend work as required. No travel is expected.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, or a closely related scientific discipline is required.
• Prior substantial experience in a laboratory environment is essential to succeed in this role.
