Role Overview
This position is part of a close-knit research team that supports a broader integrated communications practice. The consultant will oversee both quantitative and qualitative research projects from inception to completion, managing small to medium-scale projects with minimal supervision. The role is based in Melbourne and includes some interstate travel obligations.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute customized quantitative surveys and longitudinal trackers, analyzing outcomes using software such as SPSS, Displayr, or Q.
- Lead the full delivery process of in-depth interviews and focus groups conducted both online and face-to-face.
- Manage and moderate online research communities and digital discussion boards.
- Produce comprehensive reports and visual presentations from mixed-methods research to influence strategic decision-making.
- Develop project management strategies ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets.
- Coordinate with fieldwork companies, data partners, and recruitment agencies, resolving any issues proactively.
- Provide regular progress updates in internal and client meetings.
- Serve as the primary client liaison and dedicated researcher for assigned projects.
- Collaborate closely with account managers and communication consultants to align research insights with overall strategy.
- Contribute to developing tender documents, proposals, and case studies alongside senior team members.
- Strictly uphold quality standards, ethical codes, and relevant legislative frameworks throughout research delivery.
Candidate Profile
- Minimum of 3 years professional experience in market or social research, preferably within a smaller consultancy setting.
- Proven expertise with mixed-methods research encompassing both quantitative and qualitative techniques.
- Hands-on experience with survey programming platforms such as Qualtrics, plus competence in analysis software; experience with qualitative platforms is advantageous.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills demonstrated through authoring detailed reports and compelling PowerPoint presentations.
- Strong organizational skills capable of managing multiple projects and meeting strict deadlines efficiently.
- Tertiary qualification in Communications, Social Science, or a related field is preferred.
