Job description
About the Role
We are recruiting three Research Fellows specializing in Economics to join Policy Impacts, an initiative founded by Professor Nathaniel Hendren aimed at enhancing government policy evaluation through standardized economic analysis.
The fellows will collaborate closely with Professor Hendren on applied microeconomic research and empirical welfare studies. Key research themes include assessing the welfare effects of environmental and criminal justice policies, empirical macroeconomic investigations, and analyzing labor market shocks' impacts and their distribution. The role involves precise coding of welfare impacts, large-scale microdata analysis, comprehensive literature reviews, and sophisticated meta-analysis techniques utilizing Stata and GitHub.
This position builds on prior studies of government policy welfare effects and the influence of local labor markets on economic mobility.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed economic analyses related to government policy impacts.
- Develop and maintain accurate coding of welfare impact models.
- Analyze and process extensive micro-level datasets.
- Perform thorough literature reviews to support research findings.
- Employ advanced meta-analysis methods using software tools such as Stata and GitHub.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in economics, computer science, mathematics, statistics, or comparable discipline.
- Minimum two years of specialized experience in quantitative data analysis, research methodologies, or social science research (including relevant coursework or undergraduate research experience).
- Proficiency in programming relevant to data analysis, data cleaning, and simulation tasks.
Additional Information
This is a full-time appointment commencing on July 1, 2024, initially for one year with the possibility of annual renewal contingent on mutual agreement and funding availability.
A two-year commitment to the position is highly preferred.
