Job description
About the role
Tessera Research Collective is looking for three remote, non-resident Research Fellows to support its work on the changing relationship between Canada and the European Union. The fellowship focuses on areas such as security and defence cooperation, trade, critical minerals, technology, and the wider transatlantic agenda.
The selected fellows will work independently on research tasks, follow policy and diplomatic shifts, and turn their findings into concise, policy-oriented analysis on Canada–EU relations.
Responsibilities
- Carry out targeted research on political, security, economic, and institutional ties between Canada and the European Union
- Write and publish one piece each month, such as a policy brief, analytical article, or op-ed
- Track diplomatic and policy updates affecting Canada–EU relations
- Review both qualitative and quantitative information related to transatlantic cooperation
- Work with other team members on collaborative research initiatives
- Support virtual events and other team activities
- Join a weekly team meeting lasting one hour
Requirements
- Strong research and critical analysis skills in international relations, with clear interest in Canada–EU or broader transatlantic affairs
- Proven written communication ability, especially in policy writing or analytical content
- Graduate-level study completed or underway in political science, international relations, European studies, or a similar discipline
- Ability to work autonomously, manage deadlines, and stay effective in a remote part-time setup
- Knowledge of additional languages such as French or German is an advantage, as is previous research experience
Perks
- Opportunity to build a public portfolio of published, credited work
- Editorial guidance to improve writing and analysis, along with mentorship when needed
- Chance to collaborate with and connect to an international research network
