Job description

Position Overview

Alexandra Hospital (AH) invites applications for the role of Research Assistant / Research Associate to aid health services and clinical research projects. The successful candidate will work alongside AH's dedicated research team and engage actively in all phases of the research process from planning through to the dissemination of results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate research projects, including preparation and submission of ethics documentation with necessary follow-up.
  • Contribute to the development of research protocols and the creation of study-related documents.
  • Collect primary data through methods such as surveys, interviews, or chart reviews; perform data entry, initial data cleaning, and carry out preliminary data analyses.
  • Carry out both quantitative and qualitative analyses under supervision.
  • Perform comprehensive literature reviews, including systematic reviews.
  • Assist in drafting scientific manuscripts, compiling reports, and facilitate the dissemination of research findings through seminars and presentations.

Advanced Responsibilities (for experienced candidates)

  • Bring specialized expertise in areas such as health economics evaluation, implementation research, artificial intelligence applications in health, or health services outcomes.
  • Independently conduct systematic reviews and meta-analyses.
  • Execute sophisticated statistical analyses and interpret complex data sets.
  • Support grant application development including concept notes, methodology, and budgeting.

Contract Details

This is a contractual position lasting two years with the possibility of extension dependent on performance and funding availability.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in health sciences, public health, life sciences, psychology, social sciences, or related disciplines.
  • Have at least two years of professional experience, preferably within health-related research settings.
  • Proficient in using statistical software tools such as Stata, SPSS, and/or NVivo.
  • Excellent command of both written and spoken English.
  • Experience working with electronic medical records (EMR) is advantageous.
  • Evidence of published work, such as authoring scientific papers, is required.
