Job description
Position Overview
ABC News Capricornia is seeking a skilled journalist passionate about uncovering and telling stories from the Capricornia region. This full-time permanent position is based in the vibrant city of Rockhampton, Queensland, and offers the opportunity to produce compelling content across broadcast, digital, social media, and video platforms for the ABC.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and present news bulletins, conduct interviews, Q&A sessions, and develop packages for all ABC platforms, including handling breaking news.
- Write articles for the ABC News website and produce video content optimized for broadcast, digital, and social media channels.
- Engage in planning and commissioning to generate innovative content ideas aimed at maximizing audience engagement and reach.
- Collaborate with the team to source and develop regional stories that can be shared with wider ABC content teams across multiple platforms.
Candidate Profile
- Experience in producing multi-platform content is essential.
- Strong editorial capabilities including information sourcing, analysis, and sound editorial judgment are required.
- Good understanding of local community issues and interests.
- Must hold a current, valid Driver’s Licence.
- Able to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Enthusiastic about connecting with diverse communities, traveling within the region, and crafting stories that resonate with heart.

- Competitive base salary ranging from $75,000 to $82,000 plus a 15.4% nominated superannuation contribution.
