About the Role

Join Community Health Systems (CHS) as a Remote Scheduling Specialist in the Patient Access Center, where you will play an essential part in delivering quality healthcare by effectively coordinating patient appointments and fostering meaningful relationships with patients and clinical teams. This position supports scheduling activities across multiple clinics or hospitals, serving as the primary point of contact for patients to ensure smooth communication and scheduling accuracy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately schedule patient appointments across various assigned clinics or hospitals.
  • Handle inbound communications through phone, text, email, and call center platforms to address scheduling needs and urgent requests.
  • Identify urgent clinical issues for immediate transfer to clinical staff and document non-urgent requests properly in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Verify and update patient demographic and insurance data to maintain compliance.
  • Research patient inquiries effectively while upholding confidentiality standards.
  • Monitor EMR in-baskets and call center systems to ensure efficient communication workflow management.
  • Deliver professional, timely service to patients, providers, and facility staff, fostering positive experiences.
  • Adhere strictly to organizational policies and standards.
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED is required; bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or related discipline is preferred.
  • Between one to three years of experience in scheduling, healthcare operations, or administration.
  • Experience specifically in physician/provider scheduling, patient appointment coordination, or call center operations is necessary.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficient in scheduling software, EMR systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a strong customer service focus.
  • Ability to provide prompt, courteous, and knowledgeable assistance.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with great attention to detail.
  • Adept at managing multiple responsibilities in dynamic hospital, clinic, or call center environments.
  • Understanding of healthcare regulations, patient confidentiality, and compliance requirements.
