Remote Anime-Style Animator – Contract Role

Project Overview

Seeking a talented freelance animator to develop an anime-inspired fight scene music video for an independent artist. The narrative features a protagonist confronting his shadow wolf, a symbolic representation of his inner self, combining performance footage with energetic anime fight sequences. The animation must be intricately synchronized to the song's audio elements—including rhythm, lyrics, mood shifts, and beat drops—capturing intense, emotion-driven visuals highlighted by fast choreography and impactful close-ups.

Responsibilities

• Creating storyboards that integrate both performance and fight scenes throughout the music video.
• Animating fluid and dynamic fight choreography between main character and shadow wolf.
• Incorporating performance shots seamlessly with full-screen anime-style action sequences.
• Precisely aligning animation timing with song rhythm, lyrical content, and beat changes.
• Applying cinematic lighting, color correction, and atmospheric effects to enhance mood.
• Editing and compositing the final animation to meet professional quality standards.
• Exporting the finished video in high-resolution formats suitable for distribution.
• Providing consistent updates, showcasing work progress, and adapting to revisions collaboratively.

Candidate Requirements

• Demonstrable experience in anime/manga-style animation, particularly in action or music video projects.
• Proficient skills in storyboarding, character animation, and choreography of fight scenes.
• Strong command of animation and editing software such as Toon Boom, After Effects, Blender, or equivalents.
• Ability to craft dark, cinematic scenes infused with emotional depth and supernatural motifs.
• Excellent timing sense to synchronize visuals tightly with musical elements.
• Effective communication skills with a cooperative mindset towards feedback and iteration.
• A portfolio showcasing relevant anime or action music video projects.
• Availability to commit flexibly and deliver high-quality output within an agreed timeframe.

Additional Information

The animator will be provided with the audio track, lyrics, creative concept, reference materials, and the finalized design of the main character. Although the deadline is flexible to encourage quality and creative collaboration, punctual delivery is expected. This contract position is fully remote based out of New Zealand.
