Relationship Manager - Corporate Banking (Shipping)

About the Position

This role involves becoming a key member of a dedicated maritime team at a top-tier private bank, concentrating on personalized client engagement within the shipping sector. You will provide support to global shipping clients by managing their financial operations, including payments, treasury, and banking services. The shipping industry is a tightly interconnected field with a unique international reach and day-to-day challenges influenced by geopolitics and trade regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and enhance relationships with a diverse portfolio of international shipping clients, including shipowners, managers, and operators.
• Serve as a dependable partner in clients' everyday financial activities.
• Identify and leverage business growth opportunities through solution-driven discussions in areas such as payments, cash management, and foreign exchange.
• Maintain long-lasting relationships in this relationship-focused niche sector.
• Supervise daily banking operations covering cross-border and USD payments (utilizing SWIFT and multi-bank setups), electronic banking solutions, guarantees, trade-related activities, cash management, and liquidity support.
• Assist clients in managing complex and high-volume transaction flows.
• Function as the main escalation contact for issues pertaining to sanctions or transaction disputes.

Candidate Profile

• Proven experience as a Relationship Manager, Payments or Treasury Specialist, or in Corporate Banking.
• Strong background in international payments, cash management, or treasury services; previous shipping industry experience is a plus but not mandatory.
• Commercial acumen with proficiency in engaging senior financial executives such as CFOs and Treasury personnel.
• Comprehensive knowledge of cross-border payments and banking systems, liquidity structures, FX, and transaction banking products.
• Fluent communication skills in both German and English.
