Role overview

NELFT NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a motivated and compassionate Rehabilitation Assistant to join the Thurrock Integrated Care Team (ICT) on a full-time Band 3 basis. The post is focused on helping adults regain independence, work toward rehabilitation goals, and live safely in their own homes and communities.

You will be part of a multidisciplinary service supporting people with a broad mix of health and social care needs. The role is based at Thurrock Community Hospital, RM16 2PX.

Main duties

  • Carry out rehabilitation plans prepared by registered therapists and other clinicians.
  • Help service users work toward goals linked to mobility, personal care, daily living skills, and independence.
  • Observe, track, and document progress, and escalate changes or concerns to the relevant clinician.
  • Encourage and support participation in rehabilitation exercises and activities.
  • Perform delegated clinical and non-clinical duties within agreed competence levels.
  • Support safe moving and handling practices.
  • Keep records accurate, clear, and completed on time in line with policy.
  • Work closely with physiotherapists, occupational therapists, nurses, social care staff, and other professionals.
  • Promote dignity, choice, safeguarding, and person-centred care in every interaction.
  • Attend team meetings, training, supervision, and service improvement activities.

Induction and onboarding

New starters are given a structured welcome and induction. Joining normally takes place on the first Monday of each month, followed by an induction period of up to two weeks. This includes mandatory training, systems training, equipment allocation, and opportunities to meet senior leaders and attend drop-in sessions on engagement, wellbeing, and key processes. The induction is held at Goodmayes Hospital, the organisation’s head office.

Probation

This position is subject to a probationary period.

High Cost Area Supplement

This role includes a Fringe High Cost Area Supplement worth 5% of basic salary, with a minimum annual payment of £1,346 and a maximum annual payment of £2,270, pro rata for part-time hours.

Visa sponsorship

The organisation is a registered sponsor, but sponsorship cannot be guaranteed for every role. Applicants must check their eligibility under the UKVI points-based system. For sponsorship calculations, the High Cost Area Supplement is not counted as part of basic salary.
