Role Summary
This individual contributor role requires providing ongoing global regulatory support, execution, and guidance for the successful launch and management of formulated, hardline, and softline consumer goods including home fragrances, personal care items, OTC drugs, and accessories. Key responsibilities include reviewing product concepts, assessing ingredients and formulas, approving labels, evaluating claims, managing product registrations and notifications, and offering post-market support with a focus on ensuring product compliance for global franchise partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of worldwide regulations to guarantee compliant products.
- Convey product and ingredient/formula requirements clearly to relevant partners.
- Identify and resolve minor compliance concerns in partnership with cross-functional teams.
- Escalate major compliance issues to management.
- Conduct regulatory research relevant to assigned responsibilities and provide recommendations.
- Gain and apply regulatory knowledge to handle compliance issues effectively.
- Understand market positioning and the acceptability of ingredients and technologies.
- Design and maintain systems for regulatory documentation and recordkeeping to ensure accuracy and accessibility.
- Collect and report metrics related to regulatory activities.
- Develop standard operating procedures linked to regulatory compliance duties.
- Monitor emerging regulatory and technical developments, including external frameworks like FDA, Health Canada, EU Cosmetics Regulation, FTC, NAD, Federal Register, and others.
- Support sub-brand projects by evaluating impacts of new technical or regulatory issues.
- Engage with trade associations and contribute to related activities as directed.
- Oversee communication with government agencies and monitor relevant regulations.
- Organize and participate in educational and professional development initiatives such as webinars.
- Assist in onboarding new team members and training cross-functional colleagues as needed.
Qualifications
- 0 to 2 years of experience in laboratories or in related fields.
- Prior knowledge of regulations covering formulated products, hardline, and softline consumer goods is preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Demonstrated collaboration, motivation, and adaptability.
- Ability to juggle multiple responsibilities simultaneously while maintaining high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word and Excel; experience with SAP systems is an advantage.
- Bachelor's degree (BS/BA) or equivalent experience in a related discipline.
