Job description

Role Overview

Napier City Council is seeking an organised and self-assured Regulatory Administrator to support its Regulatory Delivery team in Napier. The role provides important administrative backing across a broad range of regulatory functions, including LIMs, environmental health, liquor licensing, resource consents, parking, and compliance.

You will be responsible for maintaining accurate records, handling information requests, supporting compliance-related work, and helping improve systems so that council processes stay efficient and aligned with relevant policies and legislation. The position also involves working with internal teams, external stakeholders, and members of the public to support service delivery and encourage regulatory compliance.

Key Duties

  • Deliver administrative support that helps regulatory activities run smoothly.
  • Manage information requests, complaints, and compliance-related processes.
  • Help refine systems and workflows to improve efficiency and the customer experience.
  • Interact with the public to explain regulatory requirements and encourage compliance.

About You

This opportunity will suit someone who enjoys working with people, can solve problems calmly, and takes pride in producing dependable, accurate work. You should be comfortable working independently as well as contributing positively within a team.

  • NCEA Level 3 or an equivalent qualification.
  • At least 3 years of experience in an administrative position, preferably within a regulatory setting.
  • Strong accuracy and attention to detail, with a focus on high-quality output.
  • Excellent customer service ability and clear communication skills across all levels.
  • A flexible, positive, and collaborative approach, with the ability to take initiative and own your work.
  • A willingness to learn, adapt, and contribute to ongoing process improvement.

Working Arrangements

This is a permanent full-time role of 40 hours per week, worked Monday to Friday, based in Napier’s CBD.

Salary

The total annual salary package is between $59,700 and $70,321, inclusive of KiwiSaver, depending on your skills and experience.
