Job description
Role overview
Habit Health is a nationwide rehabilitation and healthcare organisation focused on helping people achieve better outcomes and live well. The Palmerston North team is seeking a Registered Hand Therapist who wants to make a meaningful difference in patient care and contribute to a supportive, high-performing clinical environment.
This role suits a registered professional who can bring expertise to hand therapy, collaborate closely with colleagues, and help mentor Associate clinicians as they work toward their own registrations. You will be part of a team that values quality care, professional growth, and strong client results.
Key responsibilities
- Create suitable rehabilitation treatment plans and recommend effective care solutions for patients.
- Complete clinical records and patient reports accurately and promptly.
- Support and supervise Associates so they receive the training and guidance needed for their registration pathway.
- Apply a solid understanding of ACC requirements, policies, and practice guidelines.
- Use diary management systems efficiently to manage scheduling and workload.
What we offer
- A salary that is competitive in the market and designed to reflect the value of the role.
- An annual allowance dedicated to professional development and study.
- Reimbursement of registration fees and annual practising certificate costs.
- Provision of a laptop and mobile phone.
- Ongoing manager feedback and clinical mentorship to support professional growth.
- A permanent full-time position with visible career progression opportunities.
- A positive team environment with social activities, weekly treats, and recognition awards.
- Wellbeing support including an annual eye exam, flu vaccination, and access to EAP services.
- Access to Heidi notes, an AI medical scribe that reduces documentation workload and supports clinical focus.
- An uncapped incentive programme that can provide an additional monthly performance bonus.
What we are looking for
- A qualification or degree in Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy.
- Current APC and membership/registration with Hand Therapy New Zealand, PBNZ, or OTNZ.
- Strong people skills and the ability to communicate well with a wide range of patients and colleagues.
- Interest in specialising in hand therapy, with applications welcomed from both developing clinicians and those already qualified to mentor others.
Overseas applicants
- Applicants from overseas must have experience in upper limb rehabilitation.
- As an accredited employer, Habit Health can support the AEWV process.
- Support is available for gaining the necessary registrations.
- Help is offered to assist with settling into New Zealand.
- Relocation support is available as a contribution toward moving costs.
