Job description

Role overview

This position is focused on expanding strategic partnerships and driving revenue across the Mid-Atlantic territory, covering West Virginia, Virginia, and North Carolina. The role centers on strengthening relationships with educational institutions and helping schools and districts identify learner strengths and needs through Riverside's research-based solutions.

The selected candidate will be responsible for renewals, upsells, and cross-sells, while working closely with cabinet-level administrators and other key stakeholders. Success in this role depends on aligning offerings to district priorities and using data-informed insights to support educators and improve student outcomes.

Key responsibilities

  • Design and carry out plans that support revenue growth and broader business objectives.
  • Develop trusted relationships with important decision-makers, including district leaders and cabinet-level contacts.
  • Hold both virtual and face-to-face meetings to advance partnership opportunities.
  • Prepare and maintain strategic account plans for priority accounts.
  • Keep CRM records current with accurate forecasting and pipeline updates.
  • Respond quickly to qualified leads and move opportunities through the sales process without delay.
  • Represent the organization at conferences and other events to build visibility and engagement.
  • Partner with internal teams to deliver solutions that address customer needs.

Qualifications

The role calls for a bachelor’s degree and 5 to 7 years of experience in educational sales or EdTech sales. A strong record of consistently meeting or exceeding quota is essential, along with a solid grasp of the K-12 or education sales cycle and the ability to manage complex buying processes.

Ideal candidates will have experience building pipelines through a consultative sales approach, strong emotional intelligence, and the ability to gain trust quickly. The role also requires resilience, persistence, urgency, strategic thinking, and strong task management. Comfort using CRM tools for forecasting and pipeline management is also important.

Preferred experience includes a background in education, familiarity with products such as CogAT and Iowa Assessments, prior work on strategic territory plans, and experience with in-person school or district visits. Candidates should also be able to tailor the buying journey for schools and districts.
