Job description

Role overview

This position is focused on leading a team that manages the post-sanction lifecycle of corporate loans within the Core Banking System. The role calls for close oversight of essential activities such as limit setup, disbursement, loan administration, drawing power calculations, income recognition, and reconciliation of internal accounts for the corporate business segment. It also requires regular coordination with business, credit, mid-office, and policy teams to ensure processes are implemented and executed effectively.

Operational responsibilities

  • Oversee that all post-sanction and disbursement instructions issued by the mid-office through the Disbursement Notice are completed in line with internal guidelines and the bank’s credit policy.
  • Handle setup of fund-based and non-fund-based facilities, loan disbursements, servicing activities such as rollover, recovery, prepayment, drawing power calculation, and changes to existing loans.
  • Apply loan restructuring requirements in the Core Banking System according to sanction terms.
  • Record borrower and facility details accurately to support correct regulatory and internal reporting.
  • Prevent income leakage by ensuring fees, charges, and interest are booked correctly in the Core Banking System and receivables are managed properly.
  • Manage NPA accounts, write-off accounts, and related recoveries.
  • Maintain effective engagement with stakeholders and address their needs and concerns promptly.
  • Support process improvement and re-engineering initiatives.

Systems, controls, and process management

  • Lead and monitor the team to maintain zero defects while capturing data in the Core Banking System based on Disbursement Notice details and other connected systems.
  • Ensure there are no write-offs or profit-and-loss impacts caused by operational mistakes.
  • Escalate and mitigate any potential loss events identified during operations.
  • Spot process risks and operating gaps and recommend suitable controls or mitigations.
  • Track team productivity and operational efficiency.
  • Monitor internal and suspense accounts owned by the unit.
  • Ensure no unidentified balances remain parked in the unit’s internal accounts.
  • Oversee voucher management, including storage and handover to the vendor.

Governance and compliance

  • Stay current with internal procedures, credit policy, operational risk policy, and RBI regulations that affect post-sanction activities.
  • Coach and guide the team to work effectively within these policies.
  • Prepare timely and accurate regulatory as well as internal management reports.
  • Track all open audit, operational risk, and compliance issues and close them within agreed timelines.
  • Promote a strong zero-non-compliance culture.
  • Close exceptions on time and complete periodic reconciliations of open items.
  • Support the unit and other business functions with audit-related deliverables and respond to audit observations quickly and effectively.

Qualifications

A graduate or postgraduate from a recognized university or a premium business school on a full-time basis is required. Professional qualifications such as CA, CS, CWA, JAIIB, CAIIB, or PMP will be considered an added advantage.

Experience and role fit

The role is best suited to candidates with strong analytical ability and 10 to 15 years of relevant experience in corporate credit operations within the BFSI sector. Prior team leadership experience is important, along with a solid understanding of corporate lending products, trade facilities, and the post-sanction loan lifecycle. A practical grasp of accounting principles and reconciliation techniques is also needed, as well as the ability to think logically, work laterally, and pay close attention to detail. Hands-on experience with a Core Banking System, preferably Flexcube, is preferred.
