Role Overview

The Regional Employee Relations Manager will play a pivotal role in managing complex employee relations issues across Southeast Asia, Australia, and Japan. This position requires a technically skilled and emotionally intelligent individual capable of consultations with leadership, conducting investigations, handling performance and misconduct cases, and enhancing HR processes in alignment with legal standards and best practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee confidential and impartial investigations into complex employee relations matters such as discrimination, harassment, retaliation, bullying, and other inappropriate behaviors across multiple countries including Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, and Japan.
  • Manage employee relations issues to reduce organizational risk and improve workplace experience.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Legal, HR Operations, Talent Acquisition, and Government Relations to deliver effective employee relations solutions.
  • Provide expert guidance on local labor laws and compliance, acting as the main contact for APJ Leadership for strategic employee relations advice and challenging employee matters.
  • Support corporate investigations and lead corrective action processes such as performance improvement plans and warnings.
  • Review and update HR policies, ensuring compliance and risk mitigation by working closely with legal advisors.
  • Drive the implementation and refinement of employee relations practices and support labor compliance and audits.
  • Identify improvement opportunities, develop analytics and metrics to monitor employee relations programs, and create leadership review materials.
  • Maintain a comprehensive online knowledge base of best practices and regulatory updates.
  • Enhance the employee experience throughout the HR lifecycle.
  • Design and deliver training programs to strengthen employee relations capabilities among managers.
  • Contribute to various HR projects and recommend policy or process enhancements based on trends and organizational needs.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Proven expertise in employee relations management with extensive experience leading investigations and consultations in Southeast Asia, Australia, and Japan.
  • Deep understanding of local labor laws and compliance within these regions.
  • Strong communication skills including documentation, report writing, and presentations to executive leadership.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical skills, and the ability to work effectively in ambiguous and fast-paced environments.
  • Capability to independently manage projects, maintain confidentiality, and exercise discretion with sensitive information.
  • Highly collaborative mindset, adaptable, with the ability to interact effectively across diverse teams and personality types.
  • Commitment to ethical conduct, integrity, and promoting a culture aligned with company values.

Academic Credentials

  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in Human Resources.
  • Additional qualifications such as a degree in Employment Law, Employment Acts, Industrial Relations, Counseling, or Coaching are advantageous.
