Job description
Company Overview
Bapcor New Zealand, operating through BNT Automotive, has played a major role in the New Zealand aftermarket for more than 60 years. As part of the wider Bapcor group, the business supplies automotive and commercial products and services while focusing on innovation, safety, sustainability, and long-term growth. The company also emphasizes learning and career progression for its people.
Role Overview
This is a high-impact regional business development position focused on lubricants across the South Island, based in Christchurch. The role is suited to someone who can drive growth in a fast-moving sales environment, create value through solution selling, and build strong commercial partnerships across the territory. Candidates already based in the region are welcome, and relocation may also suit those seeking a better lifestyle without stepping back from career ambition.
What You Will Do
- Develop new business within the commercial and automotive oil sector by identifying opportunities, approaching prospects, and converting them into accounts.
- Strengthen relationships with existing customers by responding to needs quickly, resolving issues effectively, and encouraging repeat business.
- Track market activity, competitor movements, and broader industry trends to shape effective sales approaches.
- Represent and explain the lubricant product range confidently, helping customers understand solutions and recommending the most suitable options.
- Work towards ambitious sales targets and keep accurate records of performance, results, and pipeline progress.
- Lead pricing discussions and manage contract negotiations in coordination with branch and sales teams.
Candidate Profile
The ideal applicant will have a strong background in sales or business development, preferably in lubricants or a related industrial field. Success in solution selling and cross-selling is essential, while genuine interest in the oil industry is an advantage. You should be confident in building lasting customer relationships, handling negotiations, presenting professionally, and working independently to deliver results. The role also requires a willingness to travel extensively across the region.
Why Join
- Be part of an established market leader with a long history in the automotive aftermarket and commercial lubricants space.
- Enjoy access to learning, development, and advancement opportunities.
- Work in a collaborative, energetic team culture where contributions are recognised.
- Receive a competitive salary along with incentive-based rewards.
How to Apply
Applicants are asked to submit a CV and a cover letter outlining relevant experience and explaining their interest in the role.
