Job description
Role Overview
The Regional Admissions Recruiter supports the Admissions team by recruiting prospective students and guiding them through the acceptance process. This role primarily focuses on the Long Island, NY, and New England areas, with preference for candidates residing in Long Island. Candidates will develop and implement targeted recruitment strategies for their assigned regions, including travel to recruit effectively and establishing relationships with key influencers in the college decision process. This position is remote but requires regional travel, including some evening driving.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute recruitment plans for designated territories.
- Plan and undertake travel to recruit students in state, out of state, and occasionally beyond assigned regions.
- Attend and organize high school visits, career and technical education center presentations, college and transfer fairs, and other recruitment events, managing communications before and after.
- Create data-driven recruitment strategies and evaluate their effectiveness, suggesting adjustments as needed.
- Coordinate territory-specific events such as information sessions and campus visits.
- Cultivate relationships with secondary school counselors, community organizations, community colleges, and other key contacts in the college search process.
- Deliver presentations to prospective students and their families off campus.
- Monitor recruitment data and enrollment progress to meet goals.
- Prepare and manage a recruitment budget in collaboration with the Director.
- Provide comprehensive support to prospective students and their supporters via various communication channels.
- Manage inquiries and applicant flow through the admissions process collaboratively with campus offices.
- Review and recommend cancellation of inactive applications.
- Assist transfer students with transcript evaluations and understanding the transfer process.
- Participate in virtual recruitment activities including online sessions and webinars.
- Support marketing initiatives and maintain presence on social media platforms.
- Utilize the CRM system, Slate, ensuring data accuracy and timely updates.
- Provide phone and chat support during remote work hours.
- Engage in related professional organizations to stay current.
- Maintain knowledge of admissions, academic programs, matriculation processes, and student confidentiality regulations (FERPA).
- Assist with special projects and other assigned duties.
- Use bilingual skills, if applicable, to support applicants and enrolled students/parents in additional languages.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree is mandatory.
- Valid driver’s license within the state is required.
- Preferred background includes college admissions experience or relevant experience in marketing, sales, customer service, human services, or education.
- Experience working remotely and managing travel within a region is preferred.
- Strong organizational abilities and capability to multitask in a dynamic environment.
- Excellent interpersonal sensitivity towards students, parents, and staff.
- Ability to collaborate effectively and work independently.
- Exceptional written communication and presentation skills.
- Sound decision-making skills under time constraints.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
- Demonstrated customer service orientation and integrity in admissions work.
- Keen understanding of trends in higher education.
- Familiarity with CRM tools and techniques preferred.
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Physical requirement: ability to lift items up to 50 pounds.
Compensation and Benefits
The anticipated annual compensation ranges from $57,000 to $65,000 based on education and experience. Benefits include medical and dental insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, and educational benefits for employees and their dependents at Pennsylvania College of Technology and Penn State University, among other offerings.
