Role overview
MBIE is looking for a capable administrator to support a small, dedicated team focused on meeting the health needs of refugees arriving in Aotearoa New Zealand. This permanent full-time position is based at the Māngere Refugee Resettlement Centre and sits within Immigration New Zealand’s Refugee and Migrant Support branch.
The salary band for this opportunity is $60,727 to $70,625, depending on experience, plus KiwiSaver and a wellness benefit.
What the role involves
In this position, you will provide administrative assistance to the Refugee Health Liaison Team and help maintain the quality and consistency of its work. The role combines coordination of health information, communication with a range of internal and external contacts, accurate record handling, reporting, and general team administration.
- Deliver prompt, accurate, and professional support to both internal teams and outside stakeholders, including handling enquiries and coordinating communication.
- Assist with meeting arrangements, correspondence, file upkeep, and day-to-day office administration for the Refugee Health Liaison Team.
- Keep physical and digital records accurate and well organised, while treating sensitive and confidential information with care.
- Enter, update, transfer, and manage health-related information across relevant systems with a strong focus on accuracy.
- Compile information and prepare reports to support team activities, including documentation for High Needs meetings and contract reporting.
Skills and experience needed
To succeed in this role, you should bring practical administrative experience and the confidence to work in a busy environment where priorities can change quickly.
- Experience in medical administration is preferred.
- Familiarity with the health system, primary care, or patient management systems would be useful.
- Ability to learn new systems, health terminology, and related knowledge quickly.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
- Experience handling varied workloads in a fast-moving environment.
- Confidence using computer systems and information tools, including precise and timely data entry.
- A respectful, inclusive approach when working with people of different cultures, genders, and abilities.
- Strong commitment to accurate, high-quality work and meeting deadlines.
- Ability to obtain and retain the required national security clearance.
- New Zealand citizenship or permanent residency is required.
