About the Opportunity
BlackRock Resources is seeking an experienced Refrigeration Service Technician to join our expanding team serving the Charleston, WV area (with positions also open in Morgantown, Parkersburg, and Bridgeport). This role is ideal for those who excel in independently diagnosing and repairing commercial refrigeration and HVAC/R systems, and who pride themselves on providing outstanding customer service. The position is field-based; technicians are dispatched from home, receive a company vehicle, and enjoy the backing of a coordinated support team. Note: This is strictly for commercial clients; residential service is not part of the portfolio.
Scope of Equipment
- Commercial refrigeration: walk-in coolers and freezers, remote systems, package units, condensing units, rack systems
- Foodservice and ice equipment: commercial refrigerators and freezers, prep lines, remote/self-contained ice machines, fountain beverage ice systems
- Commercial HVAC: rooftop package units, systems for convenience stores
Key Duties
- Identify and repair issues in refrigeration and commercial HVAC systems
- Perform regular preventive maintenance and scheduled servicing
- Diagnose electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration faults
- Utilize schematics and technical documents for troubleshooting
- Complete accurate service documentation and work orders
- Communicate clearly with clients and the internal service team
- Ensure professional conduct and adherence to safety standards
Minimum Qualifications
- Possession of a valid, clean driver's license
- Capability to operate a company-provided vehicle in a safe manner
- Proficiency with troubleshooting and system diagnostics
- Ability to interpret electrical and refrigeration schematics
- Knowledge of refrigerant recovery and charging procedures
- Experience in calculating superheat and adjusting TXV valves
- Basic skills with computers and mobile devices
Preferred Credentials
- At least 2 years servicing commercial refrigeration
- EPA 608 Certification
- West Virginia commercial HVAC license
- Familiarity with advanced refrigeration controls and programming
- Rack refrigeration and commercial ice machine service experience
