Job Summary
The UK Ministry of Defence is seeking an Administrative Officer to join the Officer Processing team at Byard's Leap, East Midlands. This role is crucial for supporting recruiting operations by managing the recruitment process for selected candidates to ensure they meet their Phase 1 training intakes. The position is advertised for 37 hours per week and is subject to the Armed Forces Recruitment Programme (AFRP) effective April 1, 2027. Job Description
Key duties include:
- Administering the recruitment pipeline for selected candidates to align with Phase 1 training schedules.
- Facilitating the allocation to pre-intake and Phase 1 training courses, addressing any eligibility concerns related to medical, nationality, or residency.
- Coordinating with various stakeholders to ensure timely intake dates are met.
- Managing the processing of RAF sponsorship candidates, including issuing provisional offers and verifying all necessary clearances before authorizing payments or entry into Modularised Initial Officer Training (MIOT) or Specialist Officers Initial Training Course (SOITC).
- Initiating and overseeing Security and Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) clearances through the UKSV portal.
- Preparing RAF enlistment documentation for all new entrants for MIOTC and SOITC.
- Generating course lists and consistently updating the Strategic Defence Brief with current training data.
- Completing the Recruitment IT System (RITS) training and all mandatory training modules.
- Responding to candidate inquiries via the recruitment system, providing accurate and timely guidance.
- Notifying RAF Career Managers about Enlisted Aviator selections to facilitate the commencement of assignment orders.
- Performing other assigned tasks appropriate for the grade as directed by the chain of command.
Person Specification
Ideal candidates will possess strong organizational and interpersonal skills to effectively manage daily tasks. Proficiency in common Microsoft applications (Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word) is beneficial, though internal training will be provided for any unfamiliar systems. Excellent customer service skills are essential due to regular interaction with candidates and internal departments via phone, email, and Teams.

Additional Information
This role offers a salary of £27,866, with an additional employer contribution of £8,072 towards the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme. Benefits include tailored learning and development, flexible working options, an inclusive culture, and a Civil Service pension with a 28.97% employer contribution. Hybrid working may be available where business needs allow, with a minimum of 60% of working time expected in the office. Relocation expenses are not provided. External recruits new to the Civil Service will undergo a six-month probation period. Travel expenses for interviews will not be reimbursed. The department is reviewing pay-related allowances. Childcare vouchers are not transferable from other government departments; Tax-Free Childcare may be an option. Smoking is prohibited in Defence working environments.
