Job description
Overview
The Recreation Manager for Marketing, Special Events, and Programs is responsible for leading sponsorship efforts, promoting recreation programs and events to the public, and acting as the primary lead for special events. This role also includes oversight of program staff, camp counselors, contractors, and volunteer personnel, with a team of about 20 people.
Reporting Line
This position reports to the Parks & Recreation Director and operates under general supervision.
Working Schedule
Work is scheduled according to Recreation Center operating hours or as assigned by the supervisor. The role requires availability on weekends and evenings.
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in Parks and Recreation or a closely related discipline is required, along with at least five years of progressively responsible experience in a relevant role. A comparable mix of education and experience that provides the needed skills and capabilities may also be considered. First Aid and CPR/AED certification is required, or it must be obtained within three months of the start date.
Preferred Credentials
Helpful certifications for this role include Certified Public Communicator (CPC) and International Association for Public Participation (IAP2).
Compensation and Classification
This is an exempt position placed at Pay Grade 11.
