Role Overview

As a Recovery & Support Specialist at TAL, your primary responsibility will be facilitating the recovery and rehabilitation of clients through effective, evidence-driven strategies. Working closely with Claims teams, you will develop and implement tailored recovery pathways that promote sustainable health and successful return-to-work outcomes. This position contributes significantly to enhancing service quality and exemplifying TAL's commitment to ethical customer support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage effective recovery and return-to-work strategies for Income Protection (IP) and Total and Permanent Disability (TPD) claims.
  • Collaborate with Claims personnel and healthcare providers to overcome obstacles in clients’ recovery journeys, accelerating return-to-health.
  • Identify at-risk claims early and apply timely interventions to reduce recovery times and improve claim experiences.
  • Enhance the skillset of Claims Consultants by providing mentorship and advice related to medical, rehabilitation, and return-to-work decisions.
  • Ensure the value of recovery services by overseeing the quality and performance of external service providers.
  • Work in partnership with Health Services and Claims leadership to embed best practices and share insights that improve recovery outcomes.

Qualifications and Skills Required

  • Significant allied health or rehabilitation expertise that supports personalized and effective recovery and return-to-work plans.
  • An understanding of the biopsychosocial model to comprehensively assess and address complex recovery barriers.
  • Strong communication skills marked by empathy and clarity, aiding trust-building and stakeholder engagement.
  • A team-oriented, coaching-driven approach aimed at enhancing overall team performance through knowledge sharing.
  • A client-centered mindset coupled with sound professional judgment applicable in compensable environments.
