About the Role

Midlands State University is seeking a qualified and experienced Receptionist for its Kwekwe Campus within the Marketing and Communications Department. The role is part-time and based on-site in Gweru, Midlands Province, Zimbabwe.

Qualifications and Experience

  • You should have at least 5 O-Level subjects, with English Language included.
  • A National Diploma or Higher National Diploma in Secretarial Studies is required.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a comparable setting is needed.
  • You must be computer-literate and comfortable using MS Word, MS Excel, and PowerPoint.

Key Duties

  • Receive university visitors and provide prompt, fair, and courteous assistance in person, by phone, and by email.
  • Use sound judgement to direct enquiries to the right staff members or help where possible when they are unavailable.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of the university, the campus layout, internal structures, and current events.
  • Apply working knowledge of university systems to guide and support students, visitors, and staff.
  • Handle all incoming switchboard calls with professional telephone etiquette.
  • Route and transfer incoming calls to the appropriate officers.
  • Carry out routine administrative tasks such as typing, filing, faxing, and photocopying.
