Job description
About Us
The Boundary is a leading digital studio with over 20 years of experience, operating globally with a team of more than 150 specialists located in London, New York, Dubai, and Auckland. Founded by award-winning architects, the company merges design insight with technical expertise, pioneering innovations such as digital twin infrastructure and the integration of AI with real-time technologies to shape the future of architectural visualization.
The Opportunity
We are expanding our Real-Time team and seek a Real-Time Artist focused on our Interiors stream, welcoming applicants of all experience levels eager to enhance their skills or push visualisation boundaries. This position involves bringing luxury residential interiors to life through advanced real-time technologies, crafting immersive and atmospherically rich environments that enhance architectural storytelling.
This role is primarily office-based at our Freemans Bay Auckland studio, with some flexibility for hybrid work. Candidates must reside in Auckland or be willing to relocate at their own cost. Applications lacking a visual portfolio will not be considered.
Key Responsibilities
- Convert architectural interior designs into interactive real-time visualizations using Unreal Engine, handling modelling, lighting, scene optimisation, and client presentations from inception to delivery.
- Create and optimise detailed 3D real-time interior scenes, architectural elements, and props, ensuring high visual fidelity and optimal technical performance.
- Deliver high-end interior spaces within project timelines and budgets while collaborating closely with the Real-Time Artist team and adapting to changing design requirements.
- Engage in collaborative storytelling and support client delivery processes; junior candidates will receive mentorship from senior artists, while experienced applicants may mentor less experienced team members.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Proficiency in Unreal Engine and Autodesk 3ds Max with deep understanding of real-time rendering pipelines, scene optimisation, and asset workflows.
- Strong artistic judgment regarding luxury interiors, lighting, materials, camera composition, and creating atmospheric visual experiences.
- Openness to emerging technologies, particularly a keen interest in integrating AI tools and novel visual workflows into creative processes.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities with strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders.
Additional Details
We invite you to explore projects such as AVRA and Hollick Place for insight into the types of interiors you'll help develop.
