About the Opportunity
Gramian Consultancy specializes in IT and engineering talent solutions, focusing on connecting companies with professionals suited to their needs. Our client is an innovative company in materials engineering, dedicated to creating lightweight and sustainable solutions for industrial applications.
We are seeking an R&D Textile Coloration Engineer to advance and implement dyeing, finishing, and surface treatment techniques for technical textiles. This role involves converting client needs into actionable solutions, managing laboratory and pilot manufacturing trials, and aiding the transition to consistent serial production. Responsibilities intersect textile chemistry, color performance assessment, process development, quality assurance, and scale-up.
The position is permanent and requires working on-site in the Fribourg region of Switzerland, with occasional business travel to manufacturing and development partners.
Core Responsibilities
- Design and enhance processes related to textile dyeing, coloration, and finishing.
- Interpret customer requirements to develop feasible material solutions.
- Conduct and oversee laboratory trials, evaluating samples against established criteria.
- Test for color uniformity, UV resistance, longevity, and color fastness.
- Produce technical documents, including test plans and quality standards.
- Coordinate sampling and pilot production efforts with external collaborators.
- Support scaling laboratory procedures up to industrial manufacturing capacity.
- Develop quality control protocols for consistent serial production.
- Analyze the interplay between fibers, chemical treatments, and downstream manufacturing operations.
- Seek continual improvements in process efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability.
Candidate Requirements
- Master's degree in Textile Technology, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of two years' experience in textile dyeing, coloration, finishing, or fabric treatment.
- Hands-on involvement in developing or scaling laboratory processes toward industrial production.
- Familiarity with procedures for color measurement, color fastness testing, durability assessment, and textile quality control.
- Experience drafting detailed technical and manufacturing documentation.
- Knowledge of natural fibers, yarns, technical textiles, or composite materials.
- Background working in sectors such as automotive, mobility, industrial textiles, or related quality-focused fields.
- Proficient in English at a professional level.
- Willingness to work onsite in Switzerland and travel as required.
