Role Overview
This position is for an R&D Officer in the Surgical Robotics team based in Vapi, Gujarat, with field-based work assigned as needed. The role supports the design, development, testing, and clinical validation of advanced surgical robotic systems and related medical devices. It involves hands-on assistance in R&D work, field-level clinical data collection, usability checks, and deployment support within hospital settings.
What You Will Do
- Support the design, development, and validation of surgical robotic systems and associated medical devices.
- Help evaluate prototypes, carry out system testing, and assist with performance validation under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Take part in initiatives aimed at improving product functionality, safety, usability, and clinical performance.
- Visit hospitals and clinical locations regularly to collect anatomical and procedural data.
- Assist with system testing, usability validation, workflow observation, and collection of feedback from clinical users.
- Support device installation, deployment, and technical troubleshooting during field assignments.
- Participate in live clinical procedures and trials to better understand surgical workflows and device behavior.
- Work with R&D, Clinical, Regulatory, Quality, and Manufacturing teams on cross-functional projects.
- Coordinate with surgeons, clinicians, and hospital staff for clinical evaluations and data verification.
- Provide clinical and technical inputs that support regulatory and quality activities during product development.
- Record clinical observations, field findings, test outputs, and validation results in line with internal SOPs.
- Prepare technical reports, study summaries, and suggestions for product improvement.
- Follow internal quality requirements, clinical protocols, and regulatory norms during all field activities.
- Contribute to innovation efforts in surgical robotics, automation, and advanced healthcare technologies.
- Keep building technical and clinical knowledge through practical exposure and mentoring.
- Assist in early research work and feasibility studies for new product ideas.
Qualifications and Experience
Diploma, B.E., or B.Tech in Biomedical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE) is required. The role is open to fresh graduates as well as candidates with up to 1 year of relevant academic or internship experience. Prior exposure to clinical environments, medical device projects, or hospital-based internships is an advantage.
