Job description

Role Overview

This is a full-time, onsite position based in Sharjah, UAE, for a Railway PAUT NDT Inspector Level 2. The primary responsibility is to conduct phased array ultrasonic testing (PAUT) and other non-destructive testing (NDT) techniques on railway components and infrastructure according to approved guidelines and standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement inspection plans for railway assets.
  • Set up, calibrate, and operate NDT equipment independently.
  • Execute inspections and accurately interpret and document findings.
  • Generate detailed inspection reports conveying clear results.
  • Collaborate with quality assurance, engineering, and maintenance teams for defect detection, corrosion evaluation, and decisions on repairs or replacements.
  • Engage in safety meetings and ensure all health and safety protocols are strictly followed.
  • Maintain thorough records and traceability of inspections.
  • Support continuous enhancements in inspection methodologies and procedures.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Proven expertise in ultrasonic and phased array ultrasonic testing including equipment setup, calibration, data capture, and analysis – mandatory.
  • Competency with eddy current testing and related methods for identifying surface and near-surface flaws.
  • Solid background in inspection quality control, adherence to standards, compliance with procedures, and precise reporting.
  • Experience in assessing corrosion to evaluate material degradation and suggest corrective measures.
  • Possession of a valid NDT Level 2 certification in PAUT complying with recognized standards such as ASNT or an equivalent.
  • Previous work experience in railway, heavy industry, or infrastructure inspection fields with an understanding of applicable safety regulations – mandatory.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, standards, and inspection procedures and to communicate findings effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with strong analytical skills and capability to work in field conditions including confined or elevated areas.
  • Preferred educational background includes a technical diploma or degree in engineering, materials science, or related disciplines.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development, including training and certification enhancement, while adhering to all health, safety, and environmental policies.
