Radiology Typist (Medical Transcriptionist)

Overview

We are seeking a skilled Radiology Typist responsible for accurately transcribing, formatting, and proofreading radiologists' dictated reports related to imaging procedures such as X-rays, CT scans, MRIs, and Ultrasounds. This role requires a solid understanding of medical terminology, fast and precise typing skills averaging between 35 to 50+ words per minute, and strict compliance with patient confidentiality guidelines.

Primary Duties

• Convert spoken dictations and handwritten notes from physicians into finalized, well-structured diagnostic reports.
• Perform thorough proofreading to ensure reports are grammatically accurate, clear, consistent, and free from medical terminology errors.
• Adhere to tight deadlines, completing reports typically within 30 minutes to several hours post-dictation, as mandated by hospital or clinic standards.
• Manage report submissions by updating and uploading finalized documents into the Hospital or Radiology Information Systems (HIS/RIS).
• Assist clinical teams by liaising with radiologists and technologists to clarify reports, oversee critical case documentation, and handle patient communications, including scheduling for Ultrasound procedures.

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum educational requirement is a bachelor's degree in any discipline or a high school diploma supplemented with certification in medical transcription.
• Possess between 1 to 3 years of professional experience in medical typing or transcription, preferably within hospital or diagnostic center environments.
• Familiarity with medical dictionary software, competence in Microsoft Office suite, and experience using local clinic or management systems.
