Role Overview
The Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) position is a full-time on-site role located in Vapi. The RSO is responsible for overseeing all aspects of radiation safety, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and internal policies. Key duties include monitoring radiation usage, performing routine safety inspections, maintaining detailed records of radiation sources, equipment, and exposure levels, and creating and enforcing safety protocols.
This role requires leading safety training sessions, investigating incidents and non-compliance events, collaborating with operations, maintenance, and management to reduce risks, and preparing documentation for audits conducted by internal and external bodies. Staying updated with the latest regulatory standards and radiation safety best practices is vital.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Strong understanding of radiation safety concepts, regulatory frameworks, and compliance related to industrial or healthcare environments.
- Experience conducting safety inspections, risk analyses, incident investigations, and managing radiation-related documentation.
- Capability to develop and present safety training materials and communicate procedures effectively to teams.
- Meticulous attention to detail, solid analytical skills, and proactive problem-solving to detect hazards and propose corrective solutions.
- Familiarity with radiation detection instruments, safety standards, record-keeping, audit processes, and basic computer proficiency.
- A relevant degree or diploma in physics, radiology, engineering, or a closely related technical/science field; radiation safety certification is advantageous.
- Previous work experience in radiation safety, environmental health and safety (EHS), or regulatory compliance sectors within manufacturing or healthcare settings is preferred.
