Role Overview

We are seeking motivated individuals to join our team as Quarantine Officers and Detector Dog Handlers based in Auckland (T01maki Makaurau). These full-time permanent positions play a crucial role in New Zealand's biosecurity system, ensuring cargo and passengers entering the country pose no biosecurity risks. Officers work in various frontline locations including international airports, ports, mail centers, and cargo facilities, following a rotational roster that includes shifts across all days of the week, including hours outside 6am to 6pm.

Additional Requirements for Detector Dog Handlers

• Understanding of canine care and safety protocols.
• Successful completion of dog compatibility, agility, and fitness assessments.
• Completion of Quarantine Officer training followed by 8-10 weeks specialized dog handling training at Auckland.

Eligibility and Selection Notes

Applicants do not need to fulfill every qualification element besides holding a full New Zealand driver's license and citizenship or permanent residency. Only New Zealand citizens or permanent residents will be considered. Permanent residents must upload proof of residency during the application process. Those applying for the Detector Dog Handler role shortlisted will participate in dog handling assessments scheduled for mid-August 2026. Successful candidates must attend an assessment center and be available to commence employment on 5 October 2026.
