Role Overview

Egis is hiring an experienced and highly detail-focused Quantity Surveyor - Rail for its Dammam, Saudi Arabia location. The role centers on cost management, contract handling, and project documentation for rail infrastructure works. You will work closely with project managers, engineers, and contractors to maintain accurate budgeting, control costs effectively, and support smooth project execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and review precise bills of quantities for rail infrastructure assignments.
  • Produce detailed cost forecasts and budgets aligned with project requirements and sector standards.
  • Track project expenditure across all construction and implementation stages.
  • Carry out regular cost reviews and variance analyses to flag savings opportunities and overspends.
  • Handle contract records, including variations, claims, and change orders.
  • Measure quantities and perform take-offs from drawings and on-site surveys.
  • Work with project teams to ensure adherence to contract terms and technical specifications.
  • Prepare detailed reports and supporting documents for review and approval by stakeholders.
  • Review supplier quotes and negotiate rates to improve project value.
  • Keep structured and complete records of project files and cost information.
  • Visit sites to confirm measurements and validate quantities against specifications.
  • Assist with value engineering efforts aimed at improving efficiency and cost performance.
  • Make sure all quantity surveying activities comply with rail industry standards and Saudi Arabian regulations.

Required Experience and Qualifications

The ideal candidate should have a background as a Quantity Surveyor with at least 10 years of rail industry experience. Strong capability in estimating, budgeting, and cost control is essential, along with solid understanding of BoQ preparation and contract administration. The role also requires proficiency with quantity surveying tools, Microsoft Office, and project management software, plus familiarity with rail infrastructure and transportation construction standards. Applicants should bring strong analytical ability, problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the capacity to manage multiple priorities efficiently. Clear written and verbal communication is important, as is the ability to prepare technical reports and collaborate with diverse teams. Knowledge of Saudi Arabian construction rules, local industry practices, and HSE standards is needed. Experience on large rail or transportation infrastructure projects in the Middle East is preferred, as is advanced use of specialized quantity surveying platforms.
