Overview
An established civil engineering contractor is hiring a Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial delivery of large-scale infrastructure and groundworks projects across the UK. This position offers scope, variety, and the chance to build a long-term career within a growing business.
Role summary
In this position, you will help keep projects commercially sound by working alongside site teams, project managers, subcontractors, and clients. The work will involve managing financial performance across a range of civil engineering schemes, from early procurement through to final account.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee project costs across civil engineering jobs, starting at procurement and continuing through to final account.
- Prepare valuations, payment applications, variation claims, cost reports, and forward forecasts.
- Assist with tendering, subcontractor procurement, and contract management tasks.
- Work with site teams to monitor progress, risk exposure, and commercial performance.
- Negotiate terms and commercial matters with subcontractors and suppliers.
- Support safe, efficient, and profitable project delivery.

- Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor in civil engineering or related fields such as infrastructure, groundworks, highways, utilities, or drainage.
- Strong understanding of commercial principles and contract administration.
- Clear communication skills and confidence in negotiation.
- Ability to handle several projects or work packages at the same time.
- A relevant qualification in quantity surveying, commercial management, or construction is preferred.
