Role Overview
The Quality Coordinator position is based at the Navan site, responsible for supporting the design and construction delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects. This role involves implementing and upholding the project quality management system to ensure that all construction activities are compliant with client requirements, contracts, applicable standards, and regulatory frameworks. The role emphasizes standardizing quality processes, coordinating Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and Records (ITRs), BIM-based quality collaboration, document management, inspection facilitation, and tracking quality performance across project phases from design through handover. It requires collaboration with site teams, subcontractors, designers, stakeholders, and the central quality function.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Support adherence to ISO 9001 and company quality protocols.
- Monitor and report on quality key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Facilitate the standardization of quality processes, forms, and documentation across multiple projects and locations.
- Coordinate with site personnel, subcontractors, designers, and clients on quality standards and requirements.
- Assist with site inspections, audits, and hold/witness point approvals.
- Manage Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) scheduling and sequencing in alignment with site activities.
- Evaluate and monitor Inspection and Test Records (ITRs), ensuring proper evidence is obtained, reviewed, and closed per ITP specifications.
- Support BIM-based quality coordination, including model reviews, drawing issue management, and quality data exchanges.
- Maintain registers for ITPs and ITRs with proper version control within the project’s Common Data Environment (CDE).
- Drive the consistent use of standardized ITP/ITR templates and quality documentation across sites.
- Keep quality documentation accurate, complete, and correctly versioned.
- Compile comprehensive quality records and ensure they are readily accessible via cloud platforms.
- Log, monitor, and aid in resolving Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), tracking corrective and preventive actions and assisting with trend analyses.
- Help prepare for internal and external audits, support quality audits and inspections on site, and follow up on corrective actions.
- Ensure all client technical specifications, contracts, and quality standards are strictly satisfied.
- Track material approvals and conformity against ITP requirements and help manage supplier and subcontractor quality documentation.
- Engage in project meetings providing updates on quality-related activities and coordinate closely with document control, design, engineering, BIM, and site teams.
- Promote a culture of quality awareness, support related training and toolbox sessions, and identify opportunities to improve processes and documentation practices.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
- Understanding of construction and engineering workflows, especially related to the design and delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality systems and construction-related quality documentation such as ITPs and ITRs.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to coordinate complex activities.
- Meticulous attention to detail with robust document control skills.
- Clear and effective communication and ability to collaborate well within teams.
- Capability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Knowledge of BIM procedures and Common Data Environment (CDE) tools is beneficial.
Qualifications and Experience
- Between one and three years’ experience in construction, engineering, or quality support roles focused on design-build or civil engineering settings.
- Experience with document control, BIM/CDE systems, and on-site activities is preferred.
- Awareness of inspection methods, ITPs/ITRs, and quality documentation related to construction projects.
Personal Attributes
- Excellent organizer and planner with the ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks and details rigorously.
- Collaborative approach to working with multidisciplinary teams, clients, consultants, and internal stakeholders to foster open communication and team spirit.
- Technical competence to confidently coordinate quality deliverables across design, construction, and BIM disciplines and to assess compliance with client requirements.
