Job description
Role Overview
The Quality Control Officer will oversee food safety and quality activities across production operations, making sure the company’s products, processes, and materials comply with internal standards as well as customer, legal, and regulatory requirements.
Policies, Processes & Procedures
This role is responsible for tracking the execution of food safety and quality programs and for verifying that quality assurance controls are consistently applied to incoming materials, packing materials, work-in-progress items, and finished goods.
Day-to-Day Operations
- Check manufacturing facilities, equipment, and sites to confirm they meet approved procedures and specifications.
- Make sure production and testing equipment is properly calibrated, including devices such as thermometers, scales, and metal detectors.
- Verify hygiene conditions in the production area through pre-operational inspections, including swab tests, visual checks, and GMP compliance checks for employees.
- Monitor the proper storage and condition of raw materials, intermediate products, and finished goods, along with their storage locations.
- Ensure CPs, including packaging and labeling, and CCPs are tested at the frequencies defined in the applicable HACCP plans.
- Confirm that pest control measures are being followed and reviewed on the required schedule.
- Maintain required documentation and records such as test results, inspections, samples, and raw material quality records.
- Work with other teams to investigate customer complaints and support improvements in product performance and service.
- Support operational issue analysis and assist in solving production problems.
- Carry out other related tasks as assigned.
Job-Specific Accountabilities
- Ensure product technical specifications are met and communicate any material blocks, including the reasons for blocking, when products do not match Sunbulah requirements.
- Oversee online sampling for microbiological, chemical, and organoleptic testing according to approved sampling plans and frequencies.
- Identify food safety training needs for food handlers and follow up on their food safety behavior on the shop floor.
Continuous Improvement
Contribute to the ongoing improvement of the QMS and FSMS by supporting the use of internationally recognized food safety and quality systems that strengthen organizational performance and operational effectiveness.
Safety, Quality & Environment
Follow all relevant safety, quality, and environmental policies, procedures, and controls to help maintain a healthy and safe workplace.
Reporting
Prepare online checks for raw material quality, food safety monitoring, and manufacturing quality control using the forms specified in the quality manual.
Qualifications & Skills
The ideal candidate should hold a B.Sc. in Food Science, Food Technology, Microbiology, or a related discipline and have at least 2 years of experience in food manufacturing quality control. Strong knowledge of local and international food regulations is required, along with good spoken and written English, solid communication skills, and the ability to work with computer-based tools.
