Role Overview
This role involves performing quality control tasks guided by the Technical Manager and Quality Control team. The chemist will ensure that raw materials, packaging, and production batches meet stringent quality criteria while complying with safety and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute routine tests on production batches to confirm consistency and adherence to quality benchmarks.
- Assess the quality of incoming raw materials and packaging to determine suitability for use.
- Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment according to established industry protocols.
- Suggest necessary adjustments to production batches to achieve desired quality standards.
- Verify and approve the color accuracy of production outputs.
- Provide batch certificates when requested by customers.
- Investigate product complaints thoroughly, determine causes, and implement corrective measures.
- Log all QC testing data systematically in designated databases and spreadsheets.
- Organize and preserve records of approved drawdowns in a traceable manner.
- Manage and archive color approval data within ERP software for production reference.
- Document calibration and other quality control information relevant to ISO 9001 compliance.
- Update and maintain reference color standards regularly.
- Follow safety protocols rigorously while working in labs and production environments.
- Keep laboratory conditions clean and orderly at all times.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling chemicals and performing tests.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in polymer science, chemistry, or chemical engineering.
- Additional certifications or training relevant to quality control and laboratory testing techniques.
- Familiarity with paint and raw material testing procedures.
- At least 3 to 5 years of experience as an R&D or QC chemist in a respected paint manufacturing company.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with various stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities efficiently.
- Possession of a valid UAE driving license is advantageous but not mandatory.
