About the Role
C.H. Guenther is seeking a Quality Assurance Technician for the night shift (10:00 PM to 6:00 AM) at its Baie-d’Urfé location. This position plays an integral part in supporting and upholding the food safety and quality standards of the organization, contributing to both compliance programs and a safe work environment in food production.
Main Responsibilities
- Ensure both raw materials and finished goods align with company and client food safety and quality criteria.
- Execute requirements for Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), HACCP, and GFSI initiatives.
- Provide frontline assistance, leadership, and training regarding food safety to plant staff.
- Assist in implementing, tracking, and evaluating all quality assurance strategies and production processes.
- Monitor, sustain, and support third-party certifications such as BRC, and ensure ongoing program verification.
- Consistently observe company values, ethical standards, and workplace safety procedures.
Day-to-Day Duties
- Carry out daily checks on food safety and quality programs, including reviewing procedures and sanitation processes.
- Report directly to the Quality Assurance Supervisor regarding day-to-day production issues or process improvement initiatives.
- Maintain and document adherence to company food safety prerequisite programs (facility conditions, transportation, training, pest control, etc.).
- Review and verify HACCP documentation and sanitation schedules.
- Participate in annual HACCP system gap analyses and internal or third-party audits, providing recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Conduct microbiological environmental monitoring using swabs and air plates.
- Support ongoing training to ensure staff compliance with GMP and food hygiene standards.
- Assist with documentation related to R&D product development or improvement.
- Obtain and evaluate supplier specifications for raw materials, packaging, and services per approval programs.
- Aggregate and analyze production data using statistical methods to inform decision making.
- Prepare and dispatch product and ingredient samples as requested.
- Carry out daily 9-point sensory evaluations, capturing and analyzing results relative to production data.
- Participate actively in quality committee meetings and investigations into non-conformities or customer complaints.
- Proactively report any suspicious activity to supervisors and foster positive working relationships within the plant.
- Fulfill other assignments as delegated by the supervisor.
Qualifications
- Diploma in Food Science or related technical field required.
- 1 to 3 years experience in food processing/manufacturing in a similar function is a significant asset.
- Strong understanding of GMP, HACCP, and GFSI principles and programs.
- Proficient with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) and statistical analysis tools.
- Familiarity with statistical process control in an industrial environment.
- Quick learner, able to multitask, work autonomously, and highly organized with excellent attention to detail.
- Well-developed verbal and written communication skills; bilingualism preferred.
- Positive attitude, professionalism, and ability to build trust with staff.
- Capable of working independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
