Role Overview

The Quality Assurance Supervisor leads food safety, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance within the Customer Service Center. This role ensures products meet company and customer standards and comply with applicable food safety laws. Responsibilities include managing food safety systems such as HACCP, sanitation, allergen controls, and traceability while fostering a strong food safety culture. Additionally, the supervisor provides training and supports operational teams to maintain compliance and promote continuous improvement.

Work Location and Schedule

  • On-site at the SkyChefs facility near George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH), Houston, Texas.
  • Schedule: Monday to Friday or Wednesday to Sunday with rotating weekends.
  • Facility operates 24/7, 365 days a year.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure adherence to FDA, USDA, customer, and company food safety and quality standards.
  • Monitor and verify food safety programs including HACCP, CCPs, prerequisite programs, allergen management, sanitation, and traceability.
  • Conduct inspections, audits, quality assessments, and food safety testing to maintain compliance.
  • Maintain detailed food safety documentation and records within company systems.
  • Support audits, regulatory inspections, investigations, and implement corrective actions.
  • Train employees on food safety and quality, promoting a strong safety culture.
  • Collaborate with operations and other departments to identify and implement improvements.

Leadership Duties

  • Lead, coach, and develop the Quality Assurance and Food Safety teams to meet department goals.
  • Manage staffing, onboarding, training, scheduling, and performance evaluations.
  • Encourage a positive and cooperative work environment while upholding company policies.
  • Support company initiatives such as HACCP, Global Quality Standards, Lean Manufacturing, and continuous improvement.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, customers, auditors, and leadership teams.
  • Oversee department performance, resource use, and support budget and cost management.

Candidate Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Certification as a Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) and/or HACCP professional preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) standards highly desirable.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in food safety, quality assurance, or food production environments, including supervisory experience.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), HACCP principles, FDA, and USDA regulations.
  • Proven analytical, problem-solving, and leadership capabilities with a results-driven approach.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Experience coaching and developing teams, promoting a collaborative and respectful workplace culture.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and technology tools such as scanners, tablets, printers, copiers, and cloud systems.
  • Ability to build effective cross-functional relationships with employees, clients, auditors, and leadership.

Additional Information
