Role Description

The Quality Assurance Manager position is a full-time, onsite role based in Hucknall, responsible for creating, executing, and maintaining the company's quality management systems. The goal is to ensure adherence to industry standards, client specifications, and applicable regulations. Key duties include managing inspection and testing processes, reviewing paperwork related to fabrication and installation, and leading investigations into non-conformances with corrective action implementation. The role involves conducting internal quality audits, tracking quality metrics, driving continuous improvement efforts, and instructing production teams on quality best practices. Coordination with project managers, engineers, and clients is crucial to guarantee steel structures comply with established quality, safety, and performance standards.

Responsibilities

• Develop, enforce, and maintain quality management systems aligned with industry standards.
• Oversee inspection and testing activities for structural steel projects.
• Review technical documentation including fabrication and installation records.
• Lead root cause analysis for non-conformances and execute corrective and preventive measures.
• Perform internal audits regularly to assess compliance and effectiveness of quality processes.
• Monitor quality performance metrics and recommend improvements.
• Support initiatives to enhance continuous quality improvements across operations.
• Provide coaching and guidance to production teams on quality standards and practices.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to fulfill agreed quality and safety criteria.

Requirements

• Proven experience in quality management within structural steel fabrication, construction, or similar engineering environments.
• Comprehensive knowledge of quality management systems such as ISO 9001 and industry-specific codes and regulations for steel structures and bridges.
• Competency in conducting internal audits, managing non-conformance reports, leading root cause assessments, and deploying corrective/preventive actions.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, welding procedures, specifications, and material certifications with precision.
• Strong communication and leadership capabilities for training, cross-department collaboration, and client/audit interactions.
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills to handle multiple tasks and deadlines in manufacturing and site contexts.
• Relevant qualifications in engineering, quality management, or allied disciplines with professional certifications in quality or inspection preferred.
