About the University
Global Studies University, based in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, was founded in 2023 as a not-for-profit higher education institution. It builds on the successful launch of The Africa Institute in 2018 and was established by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al-Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah.
About the Office of Institutional Effectiveness
The role sits within the Office of Institutional Effectiveness (OIE) and reports to its Director. The OIE supports evidence-driven planning and decision-making by coordinating assessment practices across the university. It is also responsible for quality assurance and enhancement, monitoring strategic goals, supporting accreditation and ranking efforts, strengthening institutional data and records management, and working collaboratively to meet regulatory expectations.
Role Overview
The Quality Assurance Compliance Coordinator is tasked with keeping university policies, procedures, and operating practices aligned with academic accreditation standards and applicable legal requirements in the UAE. The role is central to protecting accreditation status, ensuring that administrative units function in line with regulatory frameworks, and supporting continuous improvement across teaching, research, and knowledge production. The coordinator will also help establish a structured approach for informing each unit of compliance expectations and tracking compliance on a recurring cycle.
This position is intended for an immediate start and is open until filled.
Key Responsibilities
- Track compliance against the standards set by national and international accrediting agencies.
- Stay current on accreditation rules and share relevant updates with university stakeholders.
- Make sure institutional policies and procedures remain aligned with regulatory and accreditation requirements.
- Assess and revise university policies to reflect the latest standards and rules.
- Partner with academic departments to interpret regulatory obligations and apply them within the university setting.
- Support the review and revision of institutional policies so they meet local accreditation and regulatory expectations.
- Work with administrative teams across the university to help ensure policies are put into practice effectively.
- Regularly review GSU policies and update them to match national standards and the requirements of regulatory bodies.
- Follow departmental policies, operating procedures, and instructions to ensure work is completed consistently and under control.
Qualifications and Experience
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline is required.
- At least 3 years of experience in regulatory compliance is needed.
- Background in accreditation support or a similar role within higher education is preferred.
- Experience supporting administrative operations and corrective actions is required.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong knowledge of accreditation frameworks and compliance requirements.
- Ability to understand complex regulations and translate them into practical guidance.
- High attention to detail and strong organizational ability.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Good interpersonal skills for working across departments.
- Policy development and policy review experience is a plus.
Compensation and Benefits
Pay and overall compensation will be based on qualifications and experience. The benefits package includes health insurance, housing, transportation, and children’s school fee allowance, subject to coordination of benefits.
