Job description
Position Overview
We are recruiting for a skilled QC Inspector specializing in Civil and Road works to supervise quality control efforts on civil, structural, infrastructure, building, road, and pipeline construction assignments. Based in Qatar, this role demands rigorous enforcement of adherence to approved project designs, quality criteria, and relevant international standards within Oil & Gas, Infrastructure, and EPC projects.
Key Duties
- Examine and confirm construction activities align with approved drawings, project specs, inspection and test plans, method statements, company policies, and international codes to ensure quality standards are met.
- Assist in the upkeep and implementation of Quality Management Systems (QMS) throughout project stages.
- Conduct prequalification audits at batch plants; verify calibration, production procedures, material storage, and quality controls.
- Oversee concrete trial mix design processes to validate compliance with project specifications regarding strength, workability, and durability.
- Inspect reinforcement, formwork, embedded parts, concrete placing, curing, finishing, grouting, and non-shrink grout application under equipment foundations.
- Check foundations for equipment, machines, transformers, pedestals, concrete structures, ensuring dimensional and workmanship accuracy per approved drawings.
- Supervise structural steel fabrication and erection, including alignment, levelling, bolt tightening, welding, installation tolerances, and passive fireproofing application.
- Inspect road construction elements such as subgrade, sub-base, road base, prime and tack coats, asphalt paving, compaction, thickness, surveys, and pavement testing.
- Evaluate civil infrastructure including culverts, drainage systems, retaining walls, channels, utility corridors, and related facilities.
- Inspect pipeline installation processes including trench excavation, bedding, pipe lowering, backfilling, padding, and alignments within right-of-way criteria.
- Check pipeline crossings—road, utility, railway, wadi—and monitor bund walls, dyke walls, containment systems, and earthworks.
- Verify installations and testing for GRE and HDPE piping systems including welding, pressure tests, and commissioning.
- Review incoming material inspections with material approval requests, mill certificates, test and calibration reports, and inspection records, ensuring correct storage and handling.
- Observe laboratory and field tests such as soil compaction, field density, concrete slump and compressive strength, aggregate, asphalt and other quality tests required by the project.
- Maintain inspection reports, quality records, surveillance logs, punch lists, and turnover dossiers; coordinate schedules, hold and witness points, and quality surveillance with stakeholders.
- Raise and follow up non-conformance reports, quality observations, and corrective action requests ensuring timely closure and compliance.
- Collaborate closely with clients, consultants, engineering teams, contractors, subcontractors, and third-party inspectors to uphold quality and health, safety & environmental standards.
- Monitor contractor adherence to approved quality plans, procedures, specifications, and systems throughout project execution.
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Civil, Structural, Architectural, Geological Engineering, or related fields.
- Preferably formal training in Quality Control; membership in recognized professional engineering bodies is favorable.
- At least 10 years' QC inspection experience for Degree holders or 15 years for Diploma holders in civil, structural, architectural, and pipeline works, ideally from Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Industrial, Infrastructure or EPC projects.
- Strong experience in inspection, testing, and quality assurance across concrete, roadworks, underground utilities, building construction, storage tanks, and associated infrastructure.
- Expertise in batch plant audits, concrete trial mix witnessing, material approvals, field inspections, and maintaining quality documentation.
- Comprehensive knowledge of international standards and codes including QCS, ACI, ASTM, AASHTO, API, ASME, BS, ISO, and project-specific requirements.
- Proven ability to work efficiently in diverse multidisciplinary and multicultural environments, coordinating with various project stakeholders.
