Job description
Overview
We are looking for a seasoned Quality Control Inspector specializing in Civil Infrastructure and Roads to manage quality assurance activities across civil, structural, infrastructure, building, roadwork, and pipeline construction projects in Qatar. This role demands ensuring adherence to approved drawings, project specifications, quality standards, inspection plans, and international codes throughout all construction phases.
Key Duties
- Examine civil, structural, architectural, infrastructure, and pipeline construction tasks to ensure conformity with drawings, specifications, inspection plans, method statements, procedures, and applicable international standards.
- Support the development and upkeep of project Quality Management Systems (QMS).
- Perform audits of concrete batch plants including calibration verification, process monitoring, storage conditions, and quality systems.
- Oversee concrete trial mix designs for strength, workability, durability, and project compliance.
- Inspect reinforcement, formwork, embedded elements, anchor bolts, concrete pouring, curing, and finishing work; supervise grouting and non-shrink grout application under equipment foundations.
- Conduct inspections of foundations, equipment foundations, structural pedestals, and concrete structures verifying dimensions, workmanship, and tolerances.
- Evaluate structural steel fabrication and erection including alignment, leveling, bolt tightening, welding, installation tolerances, and passive fireproofing measures.
- Inspect road construction activities such as subgrade prep, base installation, coatings, asphalt paving, compaction, thickness, survey checks, and pavement testing.
- Review civil infrastructure like culverts, drainage, retaining walls, channels, utility corridors, and related facilities.
- Examine pipeline construction: trenching, bedding, pipe laying, backfilling, padding, ROW compliance, crossings, containment systems, and piping installations including GRE and HDPE.
- Validate incoming material inspections, approvals, and storage; monitor laboratory and field testing including soil compaction, concrete slump and strength, asphalt and aggregate quality checks.
- Maintain and review inspection reports, quality records, surveillance, punch lists, turnover packages; schedule inspections and quality activities.
- Issue and track Non-Conformance Reports, observations, and corrective actions ensuring timely closure.
- Coordinate closely with clients, consultants, engineering teams, contractors, subcontractors, and inspection agencies to maintain quality and health, safety, and environmental compliance.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Civil, Structural, Architectural, Geological Engineering, or a related field.
- Formal quality control training is preferred; membership in a professional engineering institution is advantageous.
- Minimum experience: 10 years for degree holders or 15 years for diploma holders specializing in quality control inspection of civil, structural, architectural, and pipeline construction — mainly within Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Industrial, Infrastructure, or EPC sectors.
- Strong background in inspection, testing, and quality assurance for civil and pipeline projects, including concrete, roads, buildings, utilities, and storage tanks.
- Proficient in batch plant audits, mix design verification, material approval, field inspections, and quality documentation.
- Comprehensive knowledge of international standards including QCS, ACI, ASTM, AASHTO, API, ASME, BS, ISO, and project-specific norms.
- Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in diverse multidisciplinary and multicultural settings engaging various stakeholders.
