Job description

Role overview

This Chennai-based quality control role is responsible for testing, inspection, certification, and compliance activities across packaging materials, incoming raw materials, and finished goods. The position also supports production quality decisions, documentation control, audit readiness, and continuous improvement within the plant quality function.

Key responsibilities

  • Carry out and oversee testing of packaging inputs, incoming raw materials, and finished products, including chemical and physical checks, and approve final product release according to company quality standards and specifications.
  • Review trends in quality data and recommend improvements that can strengthen efficiency and compliance.
  • Maintain all records related to BOM verification in Navision, QC inspections, final batch release, and test certificate issuance.
  • Assess ongoing batches and make batch corrections where required so the product remains within target parameters.
  • Apply knowledge of IS standards and test methods aligned with IS-9103 and IS-2645, while keeping the documentation needed for IS licences up to date.
  • Support and respond to ISO and IS audits.
  • Coordinate QC and safety programs.
  • Monitor calibration records and ensure the calibration schedule is completed on time.
  • Maintain product specifications and the product control curve, and review deviations regularly.
  • Stay aware of the business and budgeting context that affects quality control work.
  • Work closely with purchase, logistics, R&D, and marketing teams to define and align quality requirements.
  • Follow existing QC processes and contribute ideas to improve them for better effectiveness.
  • Certify final products and help standardize, operate, maintain, and validate laboratory equipment data.

Additional skills and working expectations

  • Ability to handle mechanical equipment and diagnose basic operational issues.
  • Strong adherence to safety rules and correct use of PPE.
  • Comfort with basic calculations, including decimals and percentages.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office; Navision knowledge is preferred.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends when needed.
  • Sound understanding of concrete admixtures, cement grouts, curing compounds, and accelerators/activators.

The role requires consistent observance of company safety principles and proper PPE usage at all times. The candidate should also be comfortable supporting quality and safety initiatives together as part of the broader plant environment.
