Job description

Role overview

This is a QA/QC Engineer position in Qatar, with work carried out onshore. The assignment starts with an initial two-year contract and may be extended depending on business needs.

Work location

The role is based onshore, split across Ras Laffan and Doha HQ.

What you will do

You will support QA/QC activities for the Operations Expansion Start-Up (OES) function, helping to maintain quality across engineering, design, procurement, construction, installation, and repair work for new equipment and for modifications to onshore and offshore assets, all in line with applicable codes, standards, specifications, and company procedures.

The role focuses heavily on materials, metallurgy, fabrication, welding, non-destructive testing, and auditing. You will assess both planned and unplanned equipment, piping repairs, and modification challenges, and help determine practical technical solutions.

You will oversee material quality from procurement through receipt at the company facility, and coordinate QA/QC Inspectors, contracted engineers/inspectors, and NDT Technicians so their work stays aligned with procedure requirements.

Additional duties include conducting metallurgical failure analysis on failed plant and offshore components, reviewing procurement-related QA/QC matters, checking purchase requisitions for inspection and certification needs, evaluating technical bids, appointing third-party inspection resources, and confirming material inspection at the warehouse.

You will also review critical repair documents such as Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and QA/QC reports, and recommend suitable inspection or testing alternatives where needed.

As part of startup readiness and change management activities, you will contribute to lessons learned, Formal Risk Assessments (FRA), Engineering Management of Change (EMOC), and Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) from a QA/QC standpoint.

The job also includes supporting maintenance contract scopes of work for repair and modification activities, taking part in technical bid evaluations, reviewing contractor submissions, and verifying compliance with QA/QC requirements.

You will help carry out technical audits of supplier and contractor quality management systems, track observations and corrective actions, and promote quality awareness through training, information sharing, and procedure rollout sessions for OES-Maintenance, Supply, and contractor teams.

In addition, you will plan and ensure timely inspection and certification of gas cylinders, portable tanks, and lifting equipment in line with QA/QC KPIs, maintain and improve QA/QC procedures such as material receiving inspection and welding control, and support the Operations Readiness Plan by tracking deliverables, milestone dates, and handover completion requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
  • Professional certification in one or more of the following areas: welding, NDT, inspection, or auditing.
  • At least 4 years of experience in QA/QC work within the oil and gas sector.
  • Hands-on knowledge of design, engineering, procurement, fabrication, inspection, and installation of process equipment and piping.
  • Ability to troubleshoot welding and quality-related issues.
  • Strong command of written and spoken English.
  • Computer proficiency.
  • Good interpersonal and leadership capabilities.
  • Ability to analyse data and prepare reports.
