Position Overview

The Purchasing Executive role at Marriott International involves efficiently managing procurement documentation, ensuring compliance with safety standards, maintaining accurate inventory records, and supporting vendor relations within the hospitality environment. This position emphasizes adherence to food safety protocols and statutory regulations, while assisting management in various supervisory and operational tasks.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare and organize essential documentation, condense important information, and circulate details to relevant personnel.
  • Stay informed on company safety initiatives related to designated sectors such as food and retail, in alignment with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Enforce strict compliance with food safety policies across all food-related departments.
  • Maintain systematic and accurate filing of reports, invoices, and records.
  • Calculate inventory quantities, order needs, and associated costs.
  • Conduct regular inventory audits to assess stock levels and necessities; promptly notify supervisors of shortages.
  • Address and resolve vendor delivery problems, manage returns, and ensure correct receipt of goods.
  • Verify and reconcile shipping and receiving documentation.
  • Handle receipt, unloading, and processing of deliveries, monitoring par levels for food items and rejecting substandard goods.
  • Support management by participating in employee training, scheduling, coaching, and disciplinary measures, serving as a behavioral standard.
  • Maintain quality standards and report workplace incidents or hazards to management, completing required safety certifications.
  • Adhere to company policies regarding professional appearance, confidentiality, and asset protection.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure adequate staff coverage and timely guest services.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally both verbally and in written documents.
  • Foster positive interpersonal relationships to support team goals and address colleague concerns appropriately.
  • Perform physical duties such as standing, walking, lifting (up to 50 pounds), and maneuvering in various workspaces safely.
  • Undertake additional reasonable tasks as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Experience: Minimum two years in a related purchasing or procurement role.
  • Supervisory: At least one year managing or leading a team.
  • Certification: None required.
