About the Role
Little, Brown Books for Young Readers (LBYR) is actively searching for a committed and well-organized Publicity Assistant to enhance our publicity efforts. This position requires a passionate interest in promoting literature across varying young reader categories such as picture books, middle grade, young adult, and new adult fiction.
Core Responsibilities
- Provide administrative support to the Publicity Vice President (VP) and publicity team.
- Assist with media and event campaigns spearheaded by the Publicity VP.
- Coordinate media and reviewer mailings for the department.
- Compile and share weekly updates summarizing media coverage and event outcomes.
- Monitor and circulate bestseller rankings.
- Assist in managing award submission protocols.
- Handle departmental billing tasks.
- Support submissions for book festivals and consumer conventions when necessary.
- Draft pitch letters and press releases.
- Contribute to seasonal creative brainstorming sessions for LBYR titles.
- Maintain professional communication channels with authors, illustrators, media personnel, bookstores, and internal teams.
- Once trained, potentially oversee individual book campaigns by coordinating closely with authors and illustrators and pitching to national and regional media outlets and events.
Required Qualifications
- Previous internships or roles in publishing, public relations, media, or related sectors.
- Genuine interest in public relations and children’s book publishing industry.
- Strong dedication, initiative, and adherence to deadlines.
- Exceptional organizational skills suited for multitasking in a fast-paced workplace.
- Excellent written and oral communication abilities, with a solid understanding of media dynamics.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Canva.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary is set at $52,500 annually, subject to variation based on experience, skills, and location. Overtime work may be required during peak periods or special projects.
