Public Health Officer (Border Health)

Role Overview

Serving as a vital element of Singapore's public health protection at points of entry, this position focuses on frontline efforts against communicable disease threats. The role involves converting scientific data into actionable policies and implementing them effectively.

Key Duties

• Formulate and enhance disease prevention and control strategies based on the International Health Regulations framework and national legislation to ensure policies are strong, appropriate, and practical for border points.
• Lead and assist in surveillance activities, manage outbreaks and public health emergencies by activating suitable regulatory and policy tools to enable swift reactions.
• Offer expert technical knowledge in border health and collaborate with various border agencies and stakeholders to facilitate an integrated government-wide approach to public health risks.
• Manage program operations and administration to ensure seamless implementation of border health functions.

Qualifications and Experience

• Preferably holds a tertiary qualification with honours in a life sciences subject, or a background in medicine or nursing.
• A postgraduate degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, or a related field is advantageous.
• Possesses a minimum of two to three years of relevant experience in public health or border health, encompassing policy and operational roles.
• Strong analytical abilities, including proficiency in data analysis methods.
• Capable of managing multiple projects and performing well under pressure.
• Exceptional organizational skills and problem-solving capabilities.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient in teamwork and interdisciplinary collaboration.
• Flexible in working hours, particularly during infectious disease outbreaks.
• Dedicated to staying updated on advancements in communicable disease management.
