Public Area Attendant - InterContinental Hayman Great Barrier Reef

About the Role

InterContinental Hayman Great Barrier Reef is seeking a Public Area Attendant to help maintain a polished and welcoming environment across the resort. In this role, you will keep public-facing and behind-the-scenes spaces clean, orderly, and aligned with the high standards expected in a luxury IHG property.

You will play an important part in making sure the resort always feels guest-ready, while offering courteous service, handling guest requests, and supporting the Housekeeping team to keep daily operations running smoothly.

The resort has 182 guest rooms, suites, and villas spread across four accommodation wings, with pools, scenic ocean views, lush gardens, five restaurants and bars, and a range of private dining experiences. Key Duties

• Maintain cleanliness and presentation across all public areas, including the lobby, corridors, lifts, restrooms, outdoor spaces, guest facilities, and back-of-house zones.
• Keep every area consistently prepared for guests, with careful attention to detail and overall appearance.
• Respond to guest requests promptly, courteously, and professionally.
• Carry out everyday cleaning tasks such as vacuuming, mopping, polishing, dusting, removing waste, and restocking supplies according to resort standards.
• Report maintenance problems, safety concerns, or cleanliness issues so they can be addressed quickly.
• Assist with deep cleaning, event preparation, and seasonal cleaning when needed.
• Work collaboratively with Housekeeping and other departments to deliver a smooth guest experience.
• Support the broader Housekeeping team during busy periods.

What You Need

Previous experience in housekeeping or cleaning within a hotel or similar setting is preferred. You should bring a positive outlook, a strong eye for detail, and take pride in delivering high-quality work.

The role calls for clear communication, a warm guest-focused attitude, the ability to work alone or in a team, flexibility to help where needed, and the capability to stay effective in a busy, fast-moving setting. You must also be physically able to handle the demands of the job, including standing for long periods, repetitive movements, lifting, bending, and pushing housekeeping trolleys.

Pay

The base rate is $27.17, plus penalties and loading.
