Role Overview
The Prototype Technician – Sewing (all genders) for the Prototype Shop Airbag plays a crucial part in fabricating prototype airbags. This involves independently interpreting technical specifications and drawings, cutting materials, assembling, and sewing various airbag prototypes. The role also demands accurate documentation, quality control, and involvement in the maintenance of machinery and the workspace.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently create and assemble prototype airbags in accordance with technical instructions, including cutting, joining, and sewing several variants.
- Expertly interpret and utilize technical drawings for production tasks.
- Use specialized software to generate cutting patterns.
- Input, process, and manage data necessary for the silicone application machine.
- Precisely arrange material cutouts on machinery for silicone seam application.
- Ensure timely completion of prototypes and participate in module assembly, meeting required quality levels.
- Sew all types of airbag prototypes for ongoing product research and development.
- Manage and document approval processes for quality control and inspect finished prototypes as per specifications, checklists, and plans.
- Properly record all work and outcomes for traceability.
- Conduct routine maintenance and minor repairs on equipment as needed.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Completed technical vocational training or apprenticeship.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
- Preferred background in textile processing (such as sewing, technical tailoring, or canvas work).
- Proficiency in German language.
- Computer literacy, especially with relevant software tools.
- Self-sufficient and methodical work manner.
- Demonstrated initiative, effective communication skills, team orientation, and high work ethic.
- Readiness to work within a two-shift operational system.
